Proposed Itinerary

Day One: Arrive & Meet

Pickup at Milan Malpensa Airport at about 4pm. Meet at the International Arrivals doors where everyone is exiting. Look for Raffaele holding a TUSCANY IN THE FRAME sign. If you arrive earlier, join others for a coffee and a snack at the closest cafe.

Dinner will be at the Hotel Metropole or a local restaurant of Bellagio. Travel in the minibus to our home base in Bellagio, where you will have time to relax and freshen up.

At approximately 7:30pm, meet for an informal welcome drink to meet Rosalie and the rest of the group, discuss the workshop, and your goals for the upcoming week.

Day Two: Introduction to Bellagio

A gentle introduction to Bellagio and all its beautiful gardens and lakeside towns. We will stroll the Lake Promenade of Bellagio, where we may start with a demo by the tutor. Then, some loose sketching, followed by an early lunch. We will spend the rest of the afternoon in the gardens of Villa Melzi.

Day Three: Trip to Varenna

A short ferry ride to Varenna, where we will paint the views of the coastal town and boats, with a breathtaking view of the Swiss mountains.

Day Four: Pescallo

A small fishing village with a quiet, picturesque harbor. This is an opportunity to capture beautiful reflections of fishing boats with an imposing mountainous background. Lunch at a local trattoria. We will continue our work briefly after lunch, wrap up early and return to the hotel for relaxation and an evening meal.

Day Five: Independent Choice

You will have the morning free to discover the fascinating back streets, cafés, and shops of Bellagio, OR some painting from the rooftop of our hotel.

Day Six: Journey to the Hills of Bellagio

A short trip up into the hills of Bellagio, painting from the grounds of the Hotel “Il Perlo Panorama.” Here, we will have fantastic views looking down into Bellagio, where the three lakes separate.

Lunch will be provided by the hotel, as this is an all-day location. We will wrap up early so you can receive an appraisal of your work from Rosalie, and give feedback of your experience as a whole with Tuscany in the Frame.

Day Seven: Return Trip to Varenna

We will hop back on to the ferry to Varenna to paint in the beautiful gardens of the Villa Monastero. The villa’s intricate lakeside gardens will pique the architectural interest of any artist.

Day Eight: Return Home

The minibus will take us to Milan Malpensa Airport, where we will return home after a relaxing and unforgettable trip.
